MAKING MOMENTS: CREATING MEMORIES AND EXPERIENCES
OUR STORY
The Live Life Well-Being Centre and Social Enterprises service provides for young people that would be assessed as being ‘too able’ for a traditional day centre but ‘not able’ enough for a supported employment provider, thus providing a bridge between these current options.
The service was co-designed by parents following a number of parental focus groups in 2021. Parents identified the life experiences, learning outcomes and service level requirements that they wished for their sons or daughters to be involved in.
The key aspects were to deliver a five-day per week provision; 9am to 3pm service; a young person focused service (19-35 years); a learning structure similar the special school environment; door-to-door transport and the recruitment of highly experienced staff.
“These school leavers with additional needs had very limited options and our aim was to provide more choice for parents to meet their sons/daughters individual needs, within the Lisburn and Castlereagh Council area”.
